about laurie
I became a coach because I feel most alive when I help others. In my other profession, I worked in solitude most days. It was fitting for my introvert side, but I felt there was so much more I could be contributing to the world if I worked with people directly and used my abilities of deep listening, compassion and curiosity to better the lives of others. Coaching became my calling.
During my training I witnessed the simple, yet utterly transformative process of speaking one’s deepest thoughts, fears, values and desires to another person. It’s different than thinking these thoughts in private. It’s different than writing in a journal. It’s different than composing a song or painting a picture. The process of being listened to, validated and understood by another enables a person to move from a place of stagnation and stress to one of engagement and possibility. Barriers come down. Hope emerges.
I’m able to hold space through the messy times because I know there is a capable, resourced human being at the core of each woman I coach. I seek to see through the fog of a client’s distress and act as a lighthouse, helping guide each client back to her most radiant self.
In the United States, a person can call herself a “coach” even if she has no training or certification. It was important to me to get the proper education and enter my profession with the credentials that would enable me to coach effectively, ethically and responsibly. I am proud to have received my Function Health Coach certification from the renowned Kresser Institute. I have extensive training in somatic awareness, nonviolent communication, motivational interviewing, CBT techniques and mindfulness practices and theory.
My mission is to empower women to live radiantly so they can be agents of peace in the world.
